Karen Hines is an award-winning writer, performer and director. She is a two-time finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama (The Pochsy Plays; Drama: Pilot Episode) a recent finalist for the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre, and a National Magazine Award-Winner for her pieces in the late Swerve Magazine. Her lush satires have been presented at Calgary’s One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre and the High Performance Rodeo, and her plays and short films featuring the character Pochsy have traveled the globe. Hines has appeared extensively in film and television and is a Gemini nominee for her appearances in Ken Finkleman’s Married Life and his Emmy Award-winning Newsroom (CBC). Her recent play, Crawlspace, based on a true-life real estate disaster, has toured the country and is currently being adapted as a feature film.
